Tuesday: "Dry Bones"

The best laugh of the day on Jones St. was House Chaplain Rev. Jim Harry’s prayer, offered just before the legislative basketball team boarded the bus for the NC/SC match in Columbia this evening. The audio’s a little rough, so here’s a transcription:
"Almighty God, when Ezekiel looked down into the valley and saw all those dry bones, he wondered what, pray tell, you had in store for him to see. But then he heard you command those bones to come together and for life to be breathed into them.
Today, as our own group of dry bones travel to South Carolina to take on our counterparts, we earnestly and sincerely pray that their old bones stay together and remain intact.
We pray that no one gets hurt, and please remind them that they are not 20-year-olds running up and down the court. But do let us have fun and enjoy the spirit and goodwill for which the game is intended.
And Lord, if it be thy will – and we know we are pushing the limits of our petition here – let our team from the Old North State whoop up on them there folks from South Carolina, and bring them home safely to us, even if them old bones end up needing to be wrapped, taped, and iced for a few days. Amen."
Harry's prayer earned a roar of laughter and applause from the House floor, and even a hearty chuckle from Speaker Joe Hackney.
If you want to hear it for yourself, here's the clip:
