“Hillary Clinton gets it. She gets it.”
Live on CNN, Governor Mike Easley touted Hillary Clinton's strong support for education.
"She knows and understands that there is a connection between education and economic development that’s never existed before…. That if we want to dominate, we have to innovate."
"There’s a lot of "yes, we can" and "yes we should" going around. Hillary Clinton is ready to deliver. That’s the difference. She’s ready to deliver today. Immediately.
"...And I’ll tell you this: I’ve been accused of being persistent and downright aggravatin’. ….but this lady right here makes Rocky Balboa look like a pansy. "
(Yes, he really said that. On CNN.)
"I’m proud to support and endorse Hillary Clinton, the next President of the United States of America.
From Clinton's statement:
"I think that NC has made all the right bets and all the right investments. As Mary [Easley] said, we know we’ve got challenges, but there isn’t anything we can’t do if we start acting like Americans again."
Clinton spent a lot of time praising Easley's leadership and educational programs, and said she'd be turning to him and Mary "for advice."
"I'm going to be looking to NC to be the guide for where we need to go in public education."
(Um, hey, about that cabinet position...)
Also noted:
State Rep Alice Bordsen got a Clinton shout-out, as did Wake Commissioner Lindy Brown and the
NC State faculty and students on hand.
