A few noteworthy odds and ends...

NCGOP chair Linda Daves says Alamance Republican Rep. Cary Allred should resign after yesterday's report.  Allred says Daves "can go to Hell," hinting he might change his party to "Unaffiliated." With friends like these, who needs liberals? Barry Smith has the whole tit-for-tat.

Gov Bev Perdue had to shout over sheep today when she rolled out her energy plans at the SAS solar farm in Cary.   SAS uses "vertically-challenged" sheep to control the grass under the solar panels, but the shaggy groundskeepers make up in volume what they lack in stature.  After her third ovine interruption, Perdue advised SAS co-founder John Sall to "get a ram."   The audience giggled nervously.

UNC prof Leroy Towns thinks Mary Easley should've spoken for herself today.  We tried, Leroy.  (How much worse could it have been?)

Wake Dem Jennifer Weiss and Orange Dem Ellie Kinnaird won the NC Conservation Council's Rep. and Senator of the Year, respectively.

And, even though the ink isn't anywhere near dry on the House budget, it's already getting ugly in the Education subcommittee.  Asheville's Jordan Schrader has details.
