Thursday: It's On

The House budget debate is underway. The Democratic Approps Chairs are presenting the overview on the floor.
The only new development so far is that the chairs say they're running an amendment to add an extra 40 million dollars in Medicaid relief for counties, bumping up the total to 100 million.
Half - 50 million - will be distributed among all 100 counties.
10 million will be divided up between counties with 20-25% of their populations on Medicaid.
And the final 40 million will be distributed among counties (around 22, I think) that have Medicaid populations of above 25%.
That should shorten the debate a little - Republicans were set to make Medicaid relief (or the lack of it) a key point this afternoon. No word yet, though, on where Dems found the extra 40 million. We'll find out, I guess.
Oh, and one more thing -- crossover is being postponed one week to May 24th. It appears the Senate leadership came around after all. Good news for tired legislators and beleaguered committee staff.
More as the debate progresses - stay tuned.
