News broke this afternoon that the youngest son of former State Rep. Sam Ellis was killed early this morning in a single-car accident near Clayton. Joe Ellis was 21. The N&O's Samuel Spies has the story.
"'He was just a great kid, he's what everybody wants,' said the elder Ellis..."
Joe's dad, Sam Ellis, is a Republican who represented Wake Co. in the state House for more than 10 years. He was one of the first lawmakers I met when I first came to Raleigh in 2004 -- an all-around nice guy who loved to talk about his kids. I'm sorry, Sam.
