Fri: Stimulus estimates for NC

Gov. Perdue's office has released this rundown of what NC might expect from the stimulus package. Her spokesperson, Chrissy Pearson, advises this is very preliminary. They're working on a more detailed version, but as she points out, it's a 1000 page bill.
Notable bits:
- Fiscal stabilization: Flexible funding is way down - the compromise yields only about a third of the House proposal. Ouch. But FS funds earmarked for education jumped up $60M, so that's got to help.
- No money for school construction (see first bullet - I think that's where it ended up).
- Emergency Food and Shelter took a hit in the conference version, as did Elderly Nutrition and Education Tech, but hey -- some money is better than none, right?
No word yet on whether the finalized bill will be enough to cover the $900M projected gap in the current year budget. I'll let you know when I hear back from the Governor's office, but it could take a while to run those numbers.
More when I get it.
