Walmart Creating Hundreds Of Jobs In Alamance County

Walmart

The nation’s largest employer plans to add 450 workers at a new perishable grocery distribution center in Mebane. The facility will serve about 120 Walmart retail stores across the region and expand the company’s workforce in the state, which current stands at about 52-thousand people. State officials touted economic expansion at a Tuesday announcement.

Walmart has had sales of approximately 466 billion dollars this year alone. It employs about 1.4 million people in the U.S. The company has come under renewed criticism recently. A series of protests were held last month in conjunction with Black Friday, demanding better wages and treatment for Walmart employees. The jobs in Alamance County will be created over the next three years.
