Durham's own Iron & Wine is back with a brand new album full of lost songs.

That's the stage name for Sam Beam. He is returning to his folk music roots with Archive Series Volume No. 1  the first in a series of albums featuring tracks"found in the back corners of closets and dusty shoe boxes"– after several years experimenting with musical elements of jazz, rock and R&B. The album drops today.

Beam recently stopped by WUNC's Durham offices to record a live session with KPCC and played a few tracks from the album.

Here's the video:

Hady Mawajdeh is a native Texan, born and raised in San Antonio. He listened to Fresh Air growing up and fell in love with public radio. He earned his B.A. in Mass Communication at Texas State University and specialized in electronic media. He worked at NPR affiliate stations KUT and KUTX in Austin, Texas as an intern, producer, social media coordinator, and a late-night deejay.
