Essential Listening For Your Thanksgiving Road Trip

The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is the busiest travel day of the year. 1.3 million North Carolinians are expected to be traveling to visit friends and family this year, 90 percent of whom will be on the road (according to AAA of the Carolinas). That said, here's some essential public radio podcast listening you can take with you on the road, for those moments of stop-and-go.

Snap Judgment

Snap Judgment has become a tried and true staple on public radio stations across the country in just a few short years. They also have a huge archive that is ripe for the road trip picking.

Ask Me Another

The best new trivia show on the radio. Good for fans of Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me and puns.

How To Do Everything

From the Senior and Executive producers of Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me, HTDE is a how-to guide to inanities and  regular anities. Like how to make a your Root Beer less fizzy, or how to avoid the bathroom waste that's dumped off airplanes.


From the creators of This American Life, one story, told over the course of 12 episodes. It's a crime drama. The reporting is superb. Perfect for the binge.

The Moth Radio Hour

Another show newer to the radio but with a big archive of top-notch content. A live-storytelling show curated for your listening pleasure.
