Criminal: Fam On The Run

A drawing of stacked suitcases.
Julienne Alexander

Criminal
Tyler Wetherall's family spent years on the run during her childhood.

If there was one thing Tyler Wetherall learned growing up it was "don't tell anyone who you are."  She would go on to live with her family in more than a dozen homes in five different countries by the time she was a teenager.

It wasn't until she was in high school that she learned her father was one of America's most prolific marijuana distributors in the 1970's, and that he'd taken his family on the run to protect himself from arrest.

Tyler Wetherall has written a book called "No Way Home: A Memoir of Life on the Run." You can hear more about her story in the latest episode of Criminal.

Criminal is recorded at WUNC.

Rebecca Martinez produces podcasts at WUNC. She’s been at the station since 2013, when she produced Morning Edition and reported for newscasts and radio features. Rebecca also serves on WUNC’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accountability (IDEA) Committee.
